3. Cookies
3.1 To make our services attractive and to enable certain functions, we use so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your device. Some of the cookies we use are deleted again when the browser session ends, i.e. when you close your browser (session cookies). Other cookies remain on your device and allow us to recognise your browser on your next visit (persistent cookies). You can set your browser so that you are informed when cookies are set and can decide individually whether to accept them, or exclude the acceptance of cookies in certain cases or in general. For more information, please see the help function of your internet browser. If you do not accept cookies, the functionality of our website may be restricted. By accepting our “cookie banner”, you consent to the processing of your personal data by cookies. This personal data is processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR. Below we describe specific cookies.
3.2 We use Adobe Analytics, a service of Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited (4-6 Riverwalk Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24, Republic of Ireland; “Adobe”). This service uses cookies that are stored on your device and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website (including your IP address) is transmitted to Adobe servers in Ireland, where it is anonymised and then transmitted in anonymised form to servers in the USA for further processing and stored there. Adobe uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity for the website operators and to provide further services connected with website and internet use. Where required by law or where third parties process this data on behalf of Adobe, this information may be transferred to third parties. Your IP address will in no case be associated with other Adobe data. You can object to data collection by Adobe at any time with effect for the future. For more information about revocation, see http://www.adobe.com/privacy/opt-out.html.
3.3 We also use Google Analytics, a web analytics service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics likewise uses cookies. The information generated by the cookies about your use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, your IP address is shortened by Google beforehand within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide further services connected with website and internet use to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. You can also prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookies and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de
3.4 For advertising purposes, we also use third-party advertising cookies. These cookies enable us to tailor the advertising displayed in your browser specifically to your interests based on your browsing behaviour. We use the following advertising cookies:
a) On our website we use Facebook Pixel, a tool operated by Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or, if you are resident in the EU, by Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”), for the analysis, optimisation and economic operation of the website. With the help of Facebook Pixel, Facebook can also determine the visitors to our website as a target group for the display of Facebook ads. We therefore use Facebook Pixel to display the Facebook ads we publish only to Facebook users who have shown an interest in our website. This means that, with the help of Facebook Pixel, we ensure that our Facebook ads match the potential interest of users and are not a nuisance. We can also use Facebook Pixel to track the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes by looking at whether users were redirected to our website after clicking on a Facebook ad (so-called “conversion” or “user interaction”). In this case, the processing is legally based on Article 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR. Facebook Pixel is deployed by Facebook directly when you visit our website and may set a cookie on your device. If you then log in to Facebook or visit Facebook while logged in, the visit to our website is recorded in your profile. The data collected about you is anonymous to us, so we do not receive any information about the identity of users. However, Facebook stores and processes the data so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible. This means that user profiles can be created from the processed data. Facebook processes the data in accordance with Facebook’s privacy policy. For more information on how Facebook Pixel works and how Facebook ads are displayed, see Facebook’s privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/policy. You can decide against the collection and use of your data by Facebook Pixel for the display of Facebook ads. To configure which types of ads you see on Facebook, you can go to the page set up by Facebook and follow the instructions on the settings for usage-based advertising: https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences/ad_settings. The settings are platform-independent, i.e. they apply to all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices. You can also object to the use of cookies for tracking and advertising purposes via the opt-out page of the Network Advertising Initiative http://optout.networkadvertising.org and additionally via the US website http://www.aboutads.info/choices or the European website http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/. You can manage your privacy settings via the on-site button of our web offering.
3.5 The data collected about you by analytics and/or advertising cookies is pseudonymised by us through technical measures. After pseudonymisation, the data can no longer be directly assigned to the visiting user.
3.6 By clicking “accept” in our “cookie banner”, you consent to the processing of your personal data by means of analytics and advertising cookies for the purposes stated above. This personal data is then processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(1)(a) GDPR.
4. Provision of personal data and retention periods
The provision of your personal data is voluntary. You are not legally obliged to provide us with your personal data. If you do not provide us with your personal data, this has no consequences for you, except that you cannot use our services. Personal data that you give us via our website is only stored until the purpose for which it was processed has been fulfilled. Different retention periods may also arise from a legitimate interest on our part (e.g. to ensure data security and to prevent misuse).
